Heliotrope / Bloodstone Pendant
- Order number: EOHELIO-U1
Heliotrope tumbled stone pendant with a black cotton cord.
Heliotrope / Bloodstone
A green variation of chalcedony with red iron inclusions which resemble spots of blood, which is why it is also called bloodstone.
It is this beautiful colour combination that is the reason for the popularity of heliotrope as a stone for jewelry.
Known locations for Heliotrope are in Australia, China, the United States and Brazil.
Tumbled Stones
These are stones that were tumble polished in a rock tumbler.
The rough stones are put into the tumbler with abrasive grit where they are tumbled for weeks, during this time the sharp edges are rounded off.
During the process, ever finer grits are used and so the stones are slowly getting a smooth and shiny surface.
The final stage of the tumbling process is using a special polishing powder instead of abrasive grit to polish the stones to a mirror finish.
