Austrian Dolomite Pendant - Handmade

This handmade pendant is made from Austrian Dolomite from the city of Schwaz and for this reason it is called Schwaz Dolomite.
It is a very unique stone that contains a special ore called pale ore (German: Fahlerz) and it contains silver and copper and this unique ore got is name because of its pale grey to dark black colour.
Weathering of the pale ore leads to the creation of small amounts of azurite and malachite and this leads to the unique colour composition of the Schwaz Dolomite.
The silver ore in Schwaz was mined for extensively during medieval times and there was a time during which Schwaz was the biggest mining town in Europe.
The mined silver was used to finance the power and the wealth of the Habsburg Monarchy that ruled a big parts of Europe for centuries.
