3x Red Jasper from the Rhine - tumbled stones

3x large Rhine Jasper tumbled stones.

We collected these pieces of jasper on the Rhine in the region around Bonn and drummed them in our own drumming machine.
Jasper comes from the ore deposits of the Lahn-Dill region and is also known as iron silica. It is quartz with inclusions of iron, which gives the stone its red color.

Tumbled stones
Tumbled stones are stones that have been ground and polished in a tumbler.
For this purpose, the raw stones are tumbled with abrasives in a drum for several weeks, during which the sharp corners and edges are ground off.
Increasingly finer grains of abrasive are used, from very coarse to very fine, so that the stones acquire a smooth and shiny surface over time.
Finally, the stones are polished in the drum with special polishing powder to achieve a mirror shine.

NOTE: These are natural stones that we have left in their original form as much as possible and therefore the stones have small cracks and holes, as can be seen in the photos.
