Amethyst is the violet variety of quartz and has always been a popular gemstone.
The color of amethyst is usually light violet to dark violet, and amethyst is often found in combination with white quartz, resulting in beautiful color transitions and patterns of white and violet.
Particularly well-known is the so-called Chevron Amethyst, which contains V-shaped bands of white quartz.
Amethyst is found practically everywhere in the world, but the largest known deposits are in Brazil, where particularly large amethyst geodes, sometimes several meters high and weighing several tons, are found.
