Opals are mainly known from Australia and Mexico and, due to their unique colors, they are among the most popular gemstones in the world.
However, there are many other places where opals are found and one of them is in Austria, where the stone for this pendant comes from.
Our dendrite opal cannot compete with a fire opal or a boulder opal, but it has its own unique beauty.

As the name suggests, the special thing about this opal is the dendrites, which look like the remains of fossil plants but are in fact crystallized minerals such as iron or manganese.
Dendrites are also called pseudofossils and are often confused with real fossils.
