Quartzite is formed from sandstones that are transformed into quartzite under high pressure and heat.
Azul do Macaubas is a quartzite with dumortierite, which is the reason for the blue color of the stone.
The material is mined in Brazil, near the city of Macaúbas, and is mainly used for facades, kitchen worktops, window sills, but also for art objects.
