Mahogany Obsidian Heart Pendant (Reduced due to minor damage, see photos)

Obsidian (volcanic glass)
Obsidian is a volcanic glass rock that forms when lava with a specific composition cools rapidly.
The color of obsidian is usually black, but if you hold the stone up to the light you will see a brownish color and also the internal details such as inclusions and fractures become visible.
Due to its particularly sharp fracture edges, obsidian was used to make tools in the Stone Age. Today, obsidian is popular as a gemstone and for making art objects.

Tumbled stones
Tumbled stones are stones that have been ground and polished in a tumbler.
For this purpose, the raw stones are tumbled with abrasives in a drum for several weeks, during which the sharp corners and edges are ground off.
Increasingly finer grains of abrasive are used, from very coarse to very fine, so that the stones acquire a smooth and shiny surface over time.
Finally, the stones are polished in the drum with special polishing powder to achieve a mirror shine.
