The Red Flint of Heligoland
Flint is a fine-grained, microcrystalline variety of the mineral quartz, more precisely, a chalcedony variety. Flint has historical significance, as it was the most important tool for making fire for thousands of years. Due to its extreme hardness and sharp-edges, it was also the primary material of the Stone Age for arrowheads, wedges, and blades.
While conventional flint is usually gray or black in color, the Red Heligoland Flint is unique.
As early as the Neolithic period, red flint was a highly coveted luxury and trade item. Tools made from Heligoland flint have been discovered during archaeological excavations across the entire European mainland.
Because of its rarity, vibrant color, and fascinating structures, the Red Heligoland Flint is a popular gemstone today.
Crafted with Love: Handmade Gemstone Pendant
I create my pendants from minerals and gemstones with great attention to detail and meticulous craftsmanship in Germany. Each piece of jewelry undergoes several precise steps: from cutting the raw stone to shaping and grinding it on various diamond grinding wheels, followed by the final polish.
This results in unique jewelry that beautifully reflects the full splendor and diversity of nature.
