Pendant in the design of the Celtic triskele made of sterling silver with a piece of Scottish Lewisian from the Highlands.
The triskele is a symbol that can be found in almost all cultures on earth and symbolizes the magical number three as well as the path of life. The triskele can be found on ancient vases, coins, monuments and jewelry all over the world.
But the triskele does not only have a special meaning in Celtic mythology and antiquity; the symbol can still be found today in various forms on many city coats of arms or as decoration on churches and is still considered a symbol of good luck.
Scottish Lewisian
Scottish Lewisian comes from the islands of Lewis, Harris and the northern Highlands.
The raw material is collected by hand and forms the bedrock of Scotland and is one of the oldest rocks in the world, estimated to be 3 billion years old (3,000,000,000 years old!)!
Lewisian Gneiss, as the group of rocks is called, is composed of various minerals such as feldspar, quartz and epidote and this combination of minerals also gives the Lewisian its great colors and structures.
Even the earliest cultures in Scotland used Lewisian to build important monuments such as stone circles and sacred sites.
