Fascinating diversity: Skye marble from the Isle of Skye
Skye marble comes from the Scottish island of Skye in the Inner Hebrides, where it is mined from a small quarry in the shadow of the Cuillin Hills.
Only about 1 kilogram out of every 1,000 kilograms of mined material is suitable for jewelry making. The few workable pieces are collected by hand and carefully selected.
The marble, which formed approximately 500 million years ago, displays an impressive variety of colors. Blue, yellow, and pink tones are particularly rare and sought-after. Most pieces of Skye marble consist of a mixture of green or black serpentinite combined with white or gray limestone. This limestone formed over millions of years from the remains of shells and corals.

Skye marble is said to have a unique charisma and a calming effect – qualities that perfectly match the character of the island.
The Isle of Skye is shrouded in countless myths and is also known as the "Isle of Mist." Thick clouds of fog often shroud the island's rugged mountains and cliffs, creating a very special, mystical atmosphere.
