This handcrafted stone pendant is made of Schwaz dolomite, a rock that gets its name from its main location in Schwaz, Austria.
The Schwaz dolomite contains fahler ore, which was used in earlier times to extract copper and silver. During the late Middle Ages, the Schwaz silver mine was considered the largest and most productive of its kind in the world.
Thanks to its rich ore deposits, Schwaz developed into the most important mining town in Europe in the 15th and 16th centuries and formed the economic basis for the empire of the Habsburg dynasty.
In addition to the dark fahler ore, the Schwaz dolomite can also contain malachite and azurite – colorful minerals that are formed by the weathering of the copper contained in the fahler ore.
With attention to detail: gemstone pendants made in-house
I handcraft my mineral and gemstone pendants in Germany with great attention to detail. Each piece of jewelry undergoes several precise steps: from cutting the rough stone to shaping and grinding on various diamond grinding wheels, all the way to the final polish.
This creates unique jewelry that reflects the entire beauty and diversity of nature in an impressive way.
