Granite
Granite is a igneous plutonic rock formed by the slow cooling of magma at great depths. It consists primarily of quartz, feldspar, dark hornblende, and biotite. What makes granite special is its coarse crystal structure; the individual crystals in the rock are clearly visible to the naked eye.
The color of granite depends mainly on the conditions during its formation and the proportion of different minerals, and so granite occurs in many different colors around the world.
The ancient Romans and Egyptians made impressive statues, obelisks and columns from granite, and even today granite is often used in construction.
